Man’s maker was made man,
that He, Ruler of the stars,
might nurse at His mother’s breast;
that the Bread might hunger,
the Fountain thirst,
the Light sleep,
the Way be tired on its journey;
that the Truth might be accused of false witness,
the Teacher be beaten with whips,
the Foundation be suspended on wood;
that Strength might grow weak;
that the Healer might be wounded;
that Life might die.

As Prophet, Jesus wants us to defend the Bible and the truth. As Priest, he wants us to love people and defend the weak. As King, he wants our life to count. As my friend John Piper says, “Don’t Waste your life.
Epic by John Eldridge
Life is a story. It is your story, and it is my story. God is a great author. Such a great author he has authored every other author. He has written the most grand story ever told! The story of our lives, we are just living it out.
Sometimes in our lives we wonder what God is doing, this couldn’t possibly be for our best! How often could we say that while reading a novel as well. Maybe sometimes it is hard to see around the bend - we are not as creative of our great and loving Savior who bought us. We need to entrust our lives to the divine Author and Father who knitted each of us together in our mothers’ womb.
We can be assured that He has written our story, and all of His children have happy endings. Believe that God IS writing what is best, and a better story then you can imagine.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. “
Romans 8:28
Jesus for President by Shaine Claiborne.
Well, let’s try this blog thing. First off, excellent book. Essentially about politics by the standards of the Bible and Jesus; provides a lot to think about, especially if you think you know what you believe and what Jesus would say about it. Time to rethink some things really.
It’s amazing how the line in which this country was formed and our values molded differs from Scripture on so many accounts; yet it seems that the two are agreed upon by most - this Republican Prosperity Christianity. Is this really what Jesus had in mind? Well, I don’t really think so. But what about the Democratic Socialism Christianity.. uh, again, I really don’t think so.
Obviously God isn’t exactly pro-war. Nor would I say God meant by loving the homeless means to pay your taxes and let the government do it. I do believe there is something in the middle of these extremes that should be strived after.
After watching Sicko by Michael Moore as well, my thoughts on both sides have changed, once again. Lately, I feel that I have been in continuous debate on politics. I will try to outline my current, but always changing thoughts on politics as of now.
I’ve always been a Republican, through-and-through. And, I still believe that I remain a republican at heart. Just, don’t agree with much of their side thoughts lets say. I advocate small government as always, with an emphasis on morality: Against gay marriage, and for pro-life. Republican ideals right. But also I am against war.
Although, I’m all for a free economy, I’ve recently added some thoughts and expansions. I’m starting - alright I’m not sold - to see advantages to universal health care. For instance libraries, fire departments, police, etc are all socialized; yet health care is not. Why should we have to pay for basic health? Do we not have the right to be healthy? I’ve seen so many stories of insurance companies destroy peoples lives all in the name of money. People should not go without the right to health - as in the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - I feel that health is sort of a part of that.
As a Republican, we should uphold the constitution by providing the right to health care.
This country is corrupt, and America has very little to do with the gospel of Jesus. Jesus for President is a very wonderful and influential book. It even advocates not voting in that we shouldn’t be part of the worlds’ system, but only of God’s system. Even so, I am beginning to see ways in which we can receive more liberty as humankind, and progression in the world (in a secular aspect).
Most importantly we need to stay true to Christ before this world and live the gospel. We will never see the poor fed and the lost found until the church lives the gospel as Christ would have us to live.
First blog, probably very badly written. Hopefully will write a few of these up before I start telling people about my blog. Maybe people won’t concentrate on the lack of quality of each one and focus only on the subject matters.. hmm..

Ok, so why I think universal health care is a good idea when I used to always be against it. Well, something I believe to be true is that all men have the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The only way I can see this achieved and protected - by the government - is to provide universal health care. Our rights must be protected. Thanks for reading!
I’m all about causing controversy, especially in philosophy and theology. I hope to stir some people up and get some good responses to end of people learning to study their Bibles and use logic instead of emotion.
Also, book reviews sound quite enticing. Essentially, whenever I read a book that I think should be reviewed, I’ll post it on here! My first will probably be on Jesus for President, because I just finished that one; maybe. We’ll see!
If neither of these objectives are interesting to you, you might not like reading this blog. Well, occasionally I’ll post some funny pictures, or stories for those of you I might keep around that way. Not expecting much of an audience outside of the world of amateur theologians though. Mostly this blog is for my personal sake to record my thoughts and develop fuller ideas by writing them out - of course this goal will be often deviated from, but that is what I’m going to tell myself. Hope you enjoy!
